Blogging - Module 2

Hmmmmmm praline on chocolate cake........So we just learnt about blogs and my mind is already racing with the potential for the classroom. In the senior context it would be great to assign a different dot point to each student and once we have covered it in class, that student will be responsible for summarising it. By the end of the unit  the class would have a concise set of notes that they had written themselves. Additionally, this practice would ensure that students are readdressing some of the content on a regular basis.
Overall, blogging is a great reflective practice for both students and teachers. I could also make links to relevant journal articles so that I could share the newest technology and scientific advances in the classroom.
In the junior context we could create an assessment where students would have to blog about their research experience and what they have learned. It is a way for them to assimilate the material and use their own words to explain it back to an audience, be it other teachers or students.
Finally, I am so surprised at how easy it is to set up a blog!

  1. Hi Rosei, first of all your praline on chocolate cake looks amazing. Feel free to make it for me anytime. You are definately finding a way to keep this blog interesting! I totally agree with your suggestions on how you can use blogs in the classroom; you can get students to explain in simple terms what they understand about a topic. A blogging space provides a perfect environment for this! And, its definately a break from essay or report writing, allowing for variation in the classroom.
